In an alternate ending to Steins;Gate, Okabe, the eccentric mad scientist, struggles with the consequences of a failed attempt to save Kurisu. Resolved to abandon his scientific pursuits and leave the past behind, he adopts a more subdued demeanor. Yet his life takes an unforeseen turn when he meets a friend of Kurisu's, who tells him about a revolutionary experiment involving a device capable of storing human memories and recreating them in a simulated form, preserving their characteristics and personalities. As Okabe explores the experiment further, he discovers that the simulated version of Kurisu reawakens old wounds and brings about unexpected tragedies.
