Keitarou Gentouga, a first-year college student who strongly dislikes spirits, has an odd tendency to draw ghosts toward him. Two years ago, a traumatic event left a spiritual injury on his right hand and caused his friend to suffer from psychological harm, leading Keitarou to withdraw from others and become socially awkward. With the encouragement of his childhood friend Eiko Houzuki, he has started to gradually reengage with the world. To assist his recovery, Keitarou takes on a part-time job as a private tutor, and his first student is Eiko's cousin, Yayoi Houzuki. Yayoi is an exceptionally gifted child who, like Keitarou, can sense spirits but actively seeks them out as she searches for the ghost responsible for her mother's disappearance. As Keitarou gets drawn into Yayoi and Eiko's investigations of haunted locations, his teaching duties increasingly take a backseat to their supernatural adventures.
