Elfen Lied follows Lucy, a Diclonius—a human with small horns and invisible telekinetic hands—who is subjected to harsh government experiments. When she finds an opportunity to escape, Lucy, scarred by her past torment, retaliates violently against those who held her captive. As she flees, a serious head wound splits her personality: one part becomes a docile, minimally verbal child. In this fragmented state, Lucy comes across Kouta and his cousin Yuka, two college students who, oblivious to her dangerous background, care for her while she is injured.
