Codename "Twilight," a top spy from Westalis, carries out missions to maintain peace and prevent any incident that could spark a war between Westalis and its neighboring country, Ostania. His next assignment requires him to infiltrate the prestigious Eden Academy by posing as a family man, with the goal of gathering information on influential Ostanian politician Donovan Desmond. Adopting the alias "Loid Forger," Twilight takes in Anya, an orphaned girl who can read minds, to play the role of his six-year-old daughter. For his wife, he selects Yor Briar, an office worker pretending to be in a relationship to satisfy her social circle. Unbeknownst to Loid, Yor is actually the deadly assassin known as "Thorn Princess," and this union provides her with an ideal cover. Anya, unknown to both Loid and Yor, is an esper—the result of secret experiments that gave her telepathic powers. Despite learning the truth about her new parents, Anya is thrilled that they are both covert operatives. She keeps their secrets, ensuring their charade continues. As "The Forgers," Loid, Yor, and Anya must maintain their facade while pursuing their individual goals. Through their interactions, they come to understand that family can transcend biological connections.

Spy x Family ranked first in the 2020 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division. It was nominated for the 13th Manga Taisho Award in 2020 and placed second in the final ranking. In the same year, it was also nominated for the 44th Kodansha Manga Award in the Shounen category. In 2021, the manga was nominated for the 14th Manga Taisho Award and placed 10th in the final ranking. In 2023, it won the Grand Prize in the Comic Division at the 52nd Japan Cartoonists Association Awards. The series has been simulpub in English through MANGA Plus. It has been published physically in English by VIZ Media under the Shonen Jump imprint since June 2, 2020. The manga has also been released in Polish by Waneko since April 30, 2020; in Spanish by Editorial Ivrea since June 11, 2020; in Brazilian Portuguese and Italian by Panini Comics since September 15, 2020, and November 5, 2020, respectively; and in German by Kazé Deutschland since October 1, 2020.
