In Kyoto, various neighborhoods are home to young women called geisha, who are trained in traditional arts like singing and dancing. Kiyo Nozuki, a teenage girl, lives in a small residence alongside a group of maiko—apprentice geisha. Drawn by the charm of geisha life, she moved to Kyoto hoping to become a maiko herself. When she discovers that this career isn't suited to her, she isn't discouraged. Instead, she chooses to support her troupe by using her greatest skill: cooking. Through preparing delicious meals, Kiyo helps her fellow apprentices with their daily routines.
