In the aftermath of a mad magician burying the Golden Kingdom beneath the earth, the kingdom’s king emerges with a proposition: he offers his entire treasure to whoever can defeat the magician before vanishing into dust. This incentive prompts various guilds to venture into the vast dungeon to face the magician. Laios Touden heads one such guild, but tragedy strikes when a dragon annihilates his team and consumes his sister, Falin. Stripped of all their provisions and possessions, Laios, alongside the elf healer Marcille Donato and the halfling rogue Chilchuck Tims, plunges back into the dungeon, resolved to rescue Falin. Under pressure, Laios proposes the controversial idea of consuming dungeon creatures to replenish their supplies. Just as they begin to prepare their first meal within the dungeon, a dwarf named Senshi intervenes. A passionate advocate of monster cuisine, Senshi assists them in safely preparing the monster ingredients. Moved by Laios’ plight, Senshi expresses his wish to cook a dragon and decides to join their guild, setting off on their culinary adventure through the dungeon.

Dungeon Meshi ranked first and sixth in the 2016 and 2017 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division, respectively. The manga was also nominated for the Manga Taisho Award for four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019, and won Best Comic at the 55th Seiun Awards in 2024. The series was published in English as Delicious in Dungeon by Yen Press from May 23, 2017, to July 23, 2024. It was also released in Italian by J-POP from February 1, 2017, to April 24, 2024; in Spanish by Milky Way Ediciones since February 27, 2017; and in French by Casterman since May 17, 2017.
