High school freshman Kiri Koshiba possesses exceptional hairstyling abilities. She uses her talents to help those who are bullied or teased about their appearance by giving them makeovers that accentuate their inherent beauty. Kiri's school is home to the well-known Scissors Project (SP), a group of three second-year students: Shougo Narumi, the hairstylist; Kei Minami, the nail artist; and Kazuhiko Ochiai, the general beauty consultant. The SP selects one girl per makeover session, always delivering impressive results. After Kiri’s childhood friend, Kanako Aoyama, expresses her feelings to Ochiai through a gift, she is wrongfully accused of attempting to secure a spot for the next SP makeover. Kiri defends Kanako by performing a makeover that leaves the SP in awe. Determined to identify the hairstylist behind this transformation, the SP launches a search, leading to a competition with Narumi against Kiri.
