In "Onna no Sono no Hoshi," Hoshi-sensei, a Japanese language instructor at an all-girls school, gets caught up in various playful situations created by his students and coworkers. His students challenge him with difficult shiritori games through their daily notes, convince him to bring a dog to class, and ask for his guidance on becoming a manga artist. At the same time, his fellow teachers often drag him along to their visits to the local bar. The series creates its distinct humor through the deadpan exchanges between its eccentric characters.

Background

Onna no Sono no Hoshi ranked first and fifth in the 2021 and 2022 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Female Readers division, respectively. The series was nominated for the Manga Taisho Award for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. In 2022, the manga won the Social Impact Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival. It was nominated for the 47th and 49th Kodansha Manga Awards in the General category in 2023 and 2025, respectively.
