Maebara, Ichirou

Summary

Maebara Ichirō is a figure from the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series, serving as the husband of Maebara Aiko and the father of Keiichi. He is also the builder of the Maebara House and works as an artist with a known fondness for young girls. While his name is absent from the anime, appearing only on a badge, it is visible throughout the manga adaptations. His decision to relocate to Hinamizawa was inspired by observing Rika and Hanyū playing in an open lot during his sightseeing travels. In the Tatarigoroshi-hen arc, it is revealed that Keiichi has never actually viewed his father’s artwork. However, after inquiring with a business partner, Keiichi discovers that his father is quite famous. He is characterized as an artist who accepts unlimited purchases, always responds to fan mail, understands audience preferences, and adheres to specific etiquette rules such as avoiding the removal of socks, glasses, and uniforms. His events consistently draw massive crowds, with lines stretching from the convention entrance to the farthest corners and walls. During the Minagoroshi-hen sound novel and manga adaptations, Maebara Ichirō stands by Keiichi when the latter confronts the village regarding Satoko’s abuse. Keiichi also admits to his club members that he shares a very close bond with his father. His visual design varies significantly between the anime and manga versions.
