In the summer of 1983, Rena Ryuuguu and her friends enjoy a tranquil life in Hinamizawa, spending their days playing and relaxing. However, a dark shadow begins to creep over Rena's heart, threatening the safety of those around her. Complicating matters further is Rena's estranged father, who has started dating a suspicious woman named Rina Mamiya. Rena's bitterness grows when she discovers that Rina and her actual boyfriend are planning to swindle Rena's father. After a fierce confrontation with Rina, Rena feels forced to take extreme measures to protect her father. Despite noticing Rena's strange behavior, her friends choose to support her rather than abandon her. As Rena delves deeper into her plan, she discovers a critical flaw, causing her to question the loyalty of her friends and the rest of the villagers. Her investigation into the village's tragic history—marked by numerous murders and disappearances—leads her to believe that only radical actions can prevent Hinamizawa from being destroyed.
