Norimaki, Gajira

Summary

Gajira is a cherubic, winged creature with green hair that hatched from an egg brought home by Senbei following a time-traveling excursion. The egg inexplicably replicated, resulting in twins. This entity, often referred to as Gatchan, possesses a voracious appetite for nearly anything, with a particular fondness for metal, though it avoids rubber. It can also fire rays from its antennae. Gajira communicates in a language composed of sounds like "pupipopipi," which Arale somehow manages to understand. In Volume 17, it is revealed that Gajira is an angel dispatched by God (or Kami, if the narrative connects with Dragon Ball) to halt the advancement of human civilization. Observing that other civilizations had destroyed themselves and their planets, God placed an angel’s egg on Earth. Gajira’s capacity for replication and love of metal were intended to keep humanity primitive and innocent. However, due to Senbei’s interference with time travel, the mission failed. Although God initially intended to destroy humanity, witnessing the lifestyle in Penguin Village caused him to reconsider, and he departed without altering the planet. The name Gajira is a portmanteau of Gamera and Gojira (Godzilla in the West), leading to the English nickname "Gadzilla." The name is occasionally mistranslated as "Gazira."
