Hiyosu serves as the department head within the Research Institute affiliated with the 12th division. He is a towering figure distinguished by a bulbous head and a unique extendable eyeball operated by a crank mechanism. His expertise led him to originally discover the anomaly in Rukia Kuchiki's gigai.
