Jeremiah Gottwald, also known as Orange, is a complex figure in the anime Code Geass who transitions from a prominent antagonist to a supporting protagonist. A Britannian aristocrat and former Margrave standing at 192 cm tall, he served as a military officer and elite Knightmare Frame pilot before joining the Order of the Black Knights. Born on August 5, 1989, under the sign of Leo, he holds the position of Lord Commander of Lelouch's Royal Guard in the second season. His piloting skills are demonstrated through his operation of the Sutherland, Siegfried, and Sutherland Sieg units. Initially driven by a passionate and somewhat overconfident desire to maintain Purist supremacy within Britannian society, Jeremiah’s rashness and impulsiveness often define his combat style. His character arc is heavily influenced by his past service as part of Empress Marianne’s personal guard. The failure to prevent her assassination deeply affected him, fueling an extreme devotion that extends to Lelouch and Nunnally.
