Summary
Momotarou is a squirrel companion to Kyōsuke and the sole surviving subject from wartime experiments designed to create esper animals. He often appears clueless regarding Kyōsuke’s methods, offering commentary on his actions and decisions. His intense obsession with sunflower seeds once led to a bizarre accident where he was sucked into a truck’s slipstream and electrocuted by power lines because he refused to release the seeds. In combat, Momotarou can compress surrounding air into acoustic concussion missiles and emit a powerful, albeit short-lived, siren that scrambles and encrypts the brain waves of nearby individuals. When Kaoru attempts to heal him, he suffers psychotic episodes triggered by memories of his past experimentation, lashing out with devastating force. Despite this, he recognizes Kaoru and her teammates as kindred spirits, though he has not yet overcome his deep-seated hatred for humanity.
