Xerneas

Summary

Xerneas is a quadrupedal, stag-like Pokémon distinguished by four pairs of antlers. Its appearance shifts between Active Mode and Neutral Mode, though its core body remains black with a blue dorsal stripe and a short, bushy tail. Blade-like trim encircles its legs from the knees down, forming points beneath its hooves, while an inverted V-shaped marking adorns its chest in the same hue as the leg trim. Its head and neck are blue, featuring two large tufts that extend onto the chest and curve upward. The first pair of antlers curves around the underside of its black, X-pupiled eyes. Additional features include a short snout marking, upward-curving horns replacing ears, and varied coloration depending on its state. Regarded as the embodiment of life and rebirth, Xerneas wields horns that shine in seven colors to share eternal life. It generates vast forests, restores vitality to humans and Pokémon, and can alter rare Alpha Pokémon into more powerful "Anomalous Alphas" states. Legend suggests Xerneas commands unlimited life energy, potentially inducing Rogue Mega Evolution when Mega Power is present. It is attracted to life energy fluctuations, such as the Mega Power emitted by Ange, and is deeply respected by ancient Kalosians for granting life. Capable of telepathic communication, Xerneas is credited with rescuing wounded Pokémon during ancient wars. It shares responsibility for maintaining the delicate balance between life and death with another entity. Its power can fuel machines like the ultimate weapon, converting Evolution stones into Mega Stones, and it can absorb ambient energy through rainbow-colored lights to strengthen itself. Research by Mable indicates its life-affecting abilities are scientifically inexplicable. In Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction (M17), it is revealed that excessive energy expenditure causes Xerneas to transform into a tree and sleep for 1,000 years. It possesses the power to reverse petrification caused by Yveltal, though it failed to reverse a specific case in The Legend of X, Y, and Z! for unknown reasons. It can also calm enraged Yveltal. In Sylveon Enchants (PS553), Xerneas demonstrated the ability to accelerate plant growth through touch. Referred to as "X" in Pokémon Adventures and Pokémon the Series, it is called "The one who gives" in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Xerneas exists in two forms: Active Mode and Neutral Mode. In Active Mode, used during battle or power deployment, its markings, antlers, and leg trim turn pale gold, adorned with multicolored branches, bumps, and back spots. This is its full-power state. In Neutral Mode, adopted for travel and non-combat situations, its markings and antlers become pale blue with darker blue embellishments and back spots. It remains in this state until Active Mode is required.
