Yoshiko Mita is a Japanese actress born in Osaka who graduated from Joshibi High School of Art and Design in Suginami, Tokyo. She joined Toei in 1960, marking her acting debut, and stayed with the studio until 1967 before embarking on a freelance career across film, television, and stage. Her portrayal in the 1984 film W no higeki earned her the Japan Academy Prize for Best Supporting Actress in 1986. Additionally, she held the top spot on Japan's official list of taxpayers in the Actors and Celebrities category from 1991 through 1994. Mita is known for her versatility in both contemporary and jidaigeki roles. She received the Best Actress award at the 30th and 35th Blue Ribbon Awards. She is married to Yasuo Takahashi, and the couple has two sons, both of whom are actors.
