Summary

Schneizel el Britannia serves as the Second Prince of the Britannian Imperial Family and the Prime Minister of the Holy Britannian Empire. A strategic mind on par with Lelouch, he stands as the sole individual who managed to defeat the young prince in chess. While his approach as a strategist is ruthless and cold, he maintains an extremely charismatic and caring demeanor toward his subordinates. Schneizel displays a distinct disdain for unnecessary force, preferring to negotiate peace treaties even when he holds military superiority, as seen in his dealings with the Euro Universe. His ambitions for the throne are an open secret known to the Emperor, who remains unconcerned. Schneizel is suspected of involvement in the murder of Marianne vi Britannia, with Cornelia noting that he was the one who removed her body under the Emperor’s orders, while Clovis implies Schneizel holds the truth. Throughout the series, he sponsors numerous experimental projects, acting as the patron of Lloyd Asplund, the developer of the Lancelot. He also funded the construction of the Gawain and secured control of a Thought Elevator in Japan for study purposes. During the second season, Schneizel commands Britannian forces in North Africa, ending campaigns with peace treaties despite repeated victories. He explains to Nina that conquest alone invites defeat because it destroys hope. He also attempts to bribe the High Eunuchs of the Chinese Federation into ceding land in exchange for noble status in Britannia. When this plot is exposed and leads to rebellion, Schneizel abandons the plan, asserting that leaders without the support of their people cannot truly lead. Following the fall of the Eunuchs, he moves to annex the Federation's fragmented territories using a mix of intimidation and incentives. He successfully leads the defense against the Black Knights' attack on Tokyo, discovers Zero’s identity by having Suzaku followed, and learns the nature of Geass from Suzaku, leaving him confident he holds the advantage in the coming conflict.
