Summary

Megumi Tadokoro enrolled in Tootsuki Culinary Academy with the goal of becoming a chef and bringing honor to her family. Although she possessed refined culinary techniques, her extreme demophobia and poor social skills often hindered her progress, forcing her to rely on others due to her humble origins and ordinary standing within the school. However, after witnessing Soma’s incredible cooking skills and his creative methods, she became his assistant, partner, and friend throughout the series. Easily nervous and sensitive, Megumi is one of the clumsier and shyer students, striving to do her best while pursuing her culinary dreams. She panics easily, particularly when accidents occur in comedic fashion or when other students are nearing the completion of their dishes. As a cautious individual, she carefully chooses her words to avoid unwanted consequences. It is later revealed that her fear of crowds causes such severe nervousness and lack of confidence that it nearly prevented her from passing the academy, despite her strong cooking abilities. Her demophobia continues to restrict her potential, even though she has a solid knowledge of recipes and cooking methods. Despite these weaknesses, Megumi is an honest and innocent student who never lies. She possesses strong determination and tries her hardest to achieve her dream of becoming a chef, especially after being paired with Soma. She values friendship and is quite observant of different cooking styles, allowing her to learn quickly, particularly from Soma. Megumi’s cooking style is primarily defined by her neat and precise ingredient cutting, resulting in artistic and well-prepared presentations. However, her fear of crowds often obscures the true nature of her culinary talents. Her careful preparation and wise use of every material make her an unexpected expert, although she may take longer to specify the chemistry of ingredients for her dishes. Despite her lack of confidence and crowd anxiety, her strong observational skills enable her to create dishes that could rival those of Soma and other professionals if she remains optimistic. Since becoming Soma’s assistant chef during her final class in the Chapple class, Megumi has seemingly adopted Soma’s creativity through her observation of his cooking.
