Summary

Erina Nakiri is a fifteen-to-sixteen-year-old high school student and the tenth seat on the Elite Ten Council at Tootsuki Culinary Academy. Hailing from the prestigious Tootsuki Corporation, a dominant force in the high-class Japanese food industry, she possesses an arrogant and prideful demeanor, viewing anyone outside her affluent social circle as common or inferior. Her most notable trait is her "God's Tongue," a supernatural ability that allows her to discern flavors with absolute precision. Legend has it that she can identify eight different types of salt while blindfolded, a feat attributed to her refined pedigree. This power grants her the authority to disqualify dishes she deems unacceptable, often breaking the spirit of chefs and students alike with her harsh critiques. Due to her status, Erina is pampered and narcissistic, surrounding herself only with those of wealth and influence. She is particularly dismissive of Souma Yukihira, whose casual attitude and lack of refinement clash with her regal expectations. She is known to be sadistic, deriving amusement from the suffering of those who reject her offers or fail under her judgment. Her ego is so overwhelming that even her senpai and academy lecturers find her difficult to deal with. She is extremely picky, insisting on high-class cuisine and ingredients, claiming that ordinary food is beneath her. However, Souma is the exception; he is one of the few who dares to criticize her, calling her dishes boring due to her ego, which shocks her because he is the only student who fearlessly points out her weaknesses. Despite her haughty exterior, Erina exhibits tsundere tendencies, denying the quality of food even when impressed. Souma’s cooking is so exceptional that it stuns her God's Tongue, causing her to be easily flustered by his laid-back nature. She often becomes comically embarrassed when he ignores her insults. Her imagination can also be ridiculous and mood-dependent, sometimes affecting students' results negatively. Erina is deeply afraid of making mistakes and refuses to admit fault, viewing any critique as a threat to her ego. When her food is criticized, she throws tantrums and takes drastic measures to cover her weaknesses. Although she rarely participates in Shokugeki, Erina’s cooking style is considered the finest and most elegant. She utilizes lavish ingredients and high-pedigree techniques to create dishes that meet her exacting standards. Doujima Gin has noted that her culinary skills are formidable, capable of creating dishes that match her taste before they are even finished. She is said to cook as quickly as Souma, making her a proficient rival despite her reluctance to cook. Her pride in her skills remains unshaken, and she continues to judge others through the lens of her high social standing and unparalleled palate.
