Summary
Shinichi Watanabe is the real-life anime director widely recognized by the nickname Nabeshin, a persona he frequently inserts into his own works. He serves as the Deus Ex Machina in Excel Saga and plays a central role in Puni Puni Poemi. Although he does not appear on screen in Nerima Daikon Brothers, the character known as the rental guy is considered an incarnation of Nabeshin, as he shares the same English voice actor, Brett Weaver. Watanabe also narrates the segment "The Road to Becoming a Lady" in Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge and appears briefly in its twenty-fourth episode. Furthermore, Nabeshin shows up in episode thirty-two of Hayate the Combat Butler, makes a single-frame cameo as a mechanic in episode sixteen of Eyeshield 21, and appears as a dub director in episode eight of SKET Dance.
