Summary

Lucario is a bipedal, canine-like Pokémon characterized by predominantly blue and black fur. It features a short, round spike on the back of each forepaw, along with a third spike on its chest. The creature has red eyes, a long snout, and ears. When its mouth is open, two pairs of pointed teeth are visible, one in the upper jaw and one in the lower. Cream-colored fur covers its torso, while blue fur on its thighs resembles shorts. It possesses a medium-length tail of the same blue color and stands on its toes rather than its entire foot. Four black appendages hang from its head, rising when it reads or manipulates aura, a special energy it senses. Lucario can study auras to predict opponent movements and track quarry. With sufficient training, it can read auras to understand the feelings of living beings from over half a mile away, even sensing invisible foes. However, this ability sometimes forces it to learn unwanted information, leading to easy stress. It can also manipulate aura offensively, creating explosive spheres of energy. Lucario understands human speech and communicates via telepathy. In Pokémon Adventures, it demonstrated the ability to stop allies from an Aegislash's mind control using aura. In Pokémon Horizons: The Series, a Shiny Lucario emits yellow aura, unlike the standard blue. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Lucario’s eyes glow golden instead of blue when using aura vision. Considered prideful and extremely loyal to its Trainer, Lucario has a natural sense of justice and only trusts Trainers with righteous hearts. It is exceptionally rare, usually living deep in mountains far from people to improve its skills. Primarily carnivorous, Lucario hunts in packs, though one was seen eating Berries, plants like roses, and chocolate, which is not part of its natural diet. In Pokémon the Series, Lucario can create a bone-like staff for battle. According to Pokémon Sleep, Lucario never lowers its guard even when sleeping, likely reading the auras of others as it does when awake. Lucario can Mega Evolve into Mega Lucario or Mega Lucario Z. As Mega Lucario, its blue fur becomes teal blue, its cream fur grows longer, and its thighs slim down. Its arms appear more muscular, and it develops more spikes on the back of its paws and feet, which turn deep crimson. Its eyes take on an orange tint, and its aura-sensing appendages grow longer, with two tipped in crimson. Spikes also appear on its shoulders, and black markings cover its body. Mega Lucario is believed to be the first discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon. A legend at the Tower of Mastery claims a Trainer and a Lucario found the first Mega and Key Stones, unleashing the world's first Mega Evolution. After the discovery of Mega in the Hoenn region, Mega Lucario was instead believed to be the first Pokémon to Mega Evolve in Kalos. Its aura heightens throughout its body, forming black markings across its blue fur along with the intermingled energy of Mega Evolution. It readies itself for battle by focusing mental energies. Its fighting style is described as heartless due to being bathed in the explosive energy of Mega Evolution, which awakens combative instincts and causes it to mercilessly attack opponents. As Mega Lucario Z, parts of its body—head, ears, arms, thighs, and tail—turn a dark gunmetal gray, while its forearms and legs turn completely teal. Its eyes become bright blue with thick black outlines, and its face is decorated with an elaborate silver pattern of circles and crescent shapes. This pattern circles the back of its head and extends halfway into its head appendages, which are clumped into two instead of four. These appendages grow to reach its knees, featuring zig-zag seams and tips. Two long strands of blue hair with zig-zag tips extend from behind its head over its ears, which have silver crescent patterns. The cream fur on its torso is longer but flares to its right side at the bottom, unlike on Mega Lucario where it forms its tail. Mega Lucario Z's tail is split at the tip, and more silver stripes circle its waist and thighs. The chest protrusion is round and shield-like with an S-shaped seam, similar to round metal protrusions on its hands, shins, and feet. Mega Lucario Z's powers are said to greatly surpass those of a regular Lucario, named to differentiate it from the previously discovered Mega Lucario. It uses the longer fur around its head and waist, along with its fan-shaped tail, to visually disorient opponents in close combat, making its aggressive movements difficult to see. Parts of its fur have been hardened with steel energy. By focusing strength into these hardened areas, specifically the back of its hands and shins, it can deliver powerful blows. It utilizes its powerful aura in various ways, such as extending it into a thin shield or concentrating it into specific body parts like legs or fists to enhance attacks. While Mega Lucario channels aura into a destructive force, Mega Lucario Z uses it defensively by cloaking itself to increase defense, flexibility, and agility, allowing it to parry any attack. It battles as if gracefully dancing. Lucario evolves from Riolu.
