Synopsis
In Welcome to the N.H.K., twenty-two-year-old Tatsuhiro Satou is a hikikomori who abandoned university almost four years ago and clings to various conspiracy theories. Most prominent among them is his belief in the Nihon Hikikomori Kyokai (NHK), a malevolent organization he claims is responsible for his NEET status and actively spreads hikikomori culture. This psychological dramedy tracks Tatsuhiro's struggle to escape the NHK's alleged plots and end his self-imposed isolation. As he attempts to leave his apartment and secure employment, he encounters numerous hurdles. A chance encounter with the enigmatic Misaki Nakahara could offer a path to transformation, yet it also compels him to face his deepest terror: interacting with society.
