Synopsis
In "One Outs," Toua Tokuchi is a genius at both baseball and gambling, famous for winning 499 consecutive games in One Outs—a one-on-one duel between pitcher and batter—despite throwing only average fastballs. To Tokuchi, though, the game is just a profitable side pursuit. Hiromichi Kojima, a star player for the struggling Saikyou Saitama Lycaons, sees Tokuchi as the key to turning the team around. To secure Tokuchi's addition, Kojima risks his own career by challenging him to a match of One Outs and wins. Forced to join the Lycaons, Tokuchi's relationship with team owner Tsuneo Saikawa is tense from the start. When Saikawa refuses to offer a fair salary, Tokuchi proposes an unusual contract: he earns five million yen for every out he gets, but loses fifty million for each run he allows. With every game capable of making him rich or bankrupting him, Tokuchi must outsmart all opponents.
