The defenders successfully pushed back the Ends' assault on Verlina, but the war continues to escalate. As the monstrous armies reorganize, the Black King strengthens his hold over the regions he has seized. Fresh clashes break out across Orte, with human forces fighting to maintain their authority over demi-humans who have endured long oppression. With each passing day, the Ends grow more powerful, while Toyohisa Shimazu lies unconscious, badly wounded in the Battle of Verlina. Facing these mounting dangers, humanity's future hangs in a perilous balance.

In this installment

In the Orte Empire, Count Saint-Germi finalizes peace negotiations with the merchants of Gu-Binnen, ending a war that lasted decades and securing vital resources for the empire. Meanwhile, Naoshi Kanno expands his beastman army by incorporating the cat tribe. After an unexpected visit from Rear Admiral Tamon Yamaguchi, another member of the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces, Kanno and Scipio Africanus set off to meet someone they believed had died long ago. As opposing forces prepare for conflict, the Black King gathers his troops, placing them under the command of a known enemy of the Drifters.
