Lupin III: Pilot Film

Synopsis

Two years after the manga's debut, a pilot film was produced. Running just 15 minutes, it was designed to test audience reception for a potential Lupin III anime adaptation. The pilot begins with Lupin issuing a challenge to Zenigata from a public phone. A remastered version was released in 1978, re-shot in cinemascope and re-dubbed, and was screened in theaters ahead of the first feature film, The Secret of Mamo.
