Shidou Itsuka had been enjoying a period of tranquility following his intense battles with the Spirits, but this peace is suddenly shattered by the appearance of a mysterious orb radiating spiritual energy, along with a cryptic girl who accompanies it. Her intentions toward Shidou remain unclear, raising tension. In the midst of this, Shidou receives a new directive: he must date all of the Spirits and win their affections. The future of humanity is at stake as the war—or rather, the date—begins once more.

In Date A Live III, Shidou Itsuka carries on with his task for Ratatoskr, finding and containing Spirits while strengthening his connections with those he has already sealed. As fresh Spirits appear, he takes on harder missions to stop more catastrophes. Along the way, Shidou learns more about where the Spirits truly come from.
