True Saint Light Novel Lands 2027 Anime After Banished Heroine’s Soft Restart

Kodansha’s long-running fantasy romance is finally getting its on-screen moment. An official site for Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For! opened this week confirming a television anime for 2027, complete with a first teaser visual and lead casting that puts the spotlight on Eliane’s second chance.

Masumi Tazawa voices Eliane, the genuine saint cast out of Belkheim after her prince dumps her for a flashier fiancée, while Taku Yashiro plays Nigel, the neighboring crown prince who takes her in after she saves his party. Away from court intrigue, Eliane’s power—and her baking—start reshaping Linchigham even as her old kingdom unravels without its real guardian.

Tsukasa Sakurai directs at Tsumugi Akita Animation Lab, with Naoki Tozuka on series composition and Naru Nishikori handling character designs drawn from Pukyunosuke’s original art. The novels, which began on Shōsetsuka ni Narō before Kodansha’s K Ranobe Books run, sit around 1.5 million copies in print, and Mokuba Matsu’s manga spin continues in English via Kodansha USA and K Manga.
