Netflix Brings Banana Fish to Streaming with New English and French Dubs

Netflix is expanding its catalog of standout anime with the addition of the 2018 television series based on Akimi Yoshida's influential manga. The MAPPA-produced crime drama will stream in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and France beginning August 12.

The title previously streamed on Amazon Prime Video before departing the service. Banana Fish will now reach new viewers with exclusive English and French dubs performed by professional voice actors, moving past earlier AI-generated audio experiments that faced criticism.

Brandon McInnis voices the complex gang leader Ash Lynx in English, with Jonathan Tanigaki as Eiji Okumura. The French dub stars Sébastien Baulain as Ash and Grégory Laisné as Eiji. All 24 episodes are expected to drop together.

Directed by Hiroko Utsumi with series scripts by Hiroshi Seko, the adaptation follows Ash as he investigates the mysterious "Banana Fish" after teaming up with Japanese photographer's assistant Eiji amid New York's underworld of crime, loyalty, and secrets. The series blends intense action with deep character drama.

The licensing move reflects Netflix's ongoing efforts to secure and refresh cult favorites with improved localization for global fans.
