Inspired by the incredible abilities of the "Little Giant" he saw in a match, Shouyou Hinata falls deeply in love with volleyball. Despite his middle school debut ending in failure, he refuses to let his short stature stop him, driven by an unyielding determination to succeed. Upon entering Karasuno High School, the same institution the Little Giant attended, Hinata feels he is nearing his dream of playing professionally. Although the team’s prestige has faded, his resolve falters only when he discovers that Tobio Kageyama, the genius who crushed his middle school team, is now his partner. To carve out a name for himself in a sport dominated by giants, Hinata must learn to work with Kageyama. He must understand the true meaning of teamwork before he can compete at the highest level.

Kagetora then forms Vorpal Swords, a team consisting of the Generation of Miracles, including Kuroko Tetsuya and Kagami Taiga, as they are the only ones capable of facing an opponent that seems unbeatable from every angle.
