

Synopsis
In the quiet Swiss village where he lives with his family, Romeo enjoys a peaceful existence until he attracts the attention of Luini, the infamous God of Death. Known for kidnapping children to work as chimney sweeps in Milan, Luini targets Romeo. To force him into servitude, Luini burns down the family's cornfield and injures Romeo's father during a confrontation. Faced with financial ruin and medical expenses, Romeo volunteers to work for Luini to save his family. Upon arriving in Milan, Romeo forms a strong bond with Alfredo Martini. Their friendship deepens when Alfredo is later sold to a different master, and they promise to stay connected. As a chimney sweep, Romeo endures immense hardship and mistreatment, especially from his employer and a gang known as the Wolf Pack. Reunited with Alfredo, they unite other chimney sweeps under the banner of the Black Brothers. Together, they learn to resist the Wolf Pack and support one another through their struggles.
