Synopsis
Tomorrow's Leaves is a special project commissioned by the Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage (OFCH), animated by Studio Ponoc, created for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The yearly arrival of the message leaf sparks concern—something is clearly amiss. Its normally vivid and lasting colors quickly fade, then it wilts and crumbles without warning. Five envoys, from five different lands, are sent to discover what has occurred. They journey to a distant land, quietly led by tiny spirits. Each envoy possesses its own strengths and weaknesses. They compete with and support one another as they draw nearer to their destination, facing dangerous terrain and harsh conditions. Through athletic trials and the unifying power of sport, they uncover the positive core values that come from playful competition. Together, the envoys approach the source of the message leaf. Can they restore life to a future that is in danger?
