Continues the story of Gintama
In Edo, a city where samurai once flourished with courage and ambition, the arrival of the powerful alien race known as the Amanto ended those dreams. The former shogunate now operates under foreign rule, and a new law prohibits carrying swords in public. Gintoki Sakata, a peculiar man with silver hair and a habit of carrying a wooden sword, continues to live as a samurai despite the ban. As the leader of Yorozuya, a small business that takes on odd jobs, he often sets out on missions to help others, though his methods are unusual and frequently chaotic. Alongside Shinpachi Shimura, a bespectacled youth training to be a samurai, Kagura, a strong and gluttonous tomboy, and Sadaharu, their enormous pet dog who likes to bite heads, the Yorozuya navigate the many challenges posed by the diverse residents of Edo, from alien nobility to local gang conflicts.
In this installment
After a one-year break, Shinpachi Shimura comes back to Edo only to discover a shocking turn of events: Gintoki and Kagura, his fellow Yorozuya members, have turned into completely different people! Fleeing from the Yorozuya headquarters in confusion, Shinpachi realizes that every resident of Edo has undergone impossibly extreme changes, both in appearance and personality. Most unbelievably, his sister Otae has married the Shinsengumi chief and shameless stalker Isao Kondou and is now expecting their first child. Perplexed, Shinpachi agrees to join the Shinsengumi at Otae and Kondou's request and finds even more startling transformations both within and outside the organization's ranks. However, upon discovering that Vice Chief Toushirou Hijikata has remained unchanged, Shinpachi and his unlikely Shinsengumi ally set out to restore the city of Edo to how they remember it. With even more dirty jokes, tongue-in-cheek parodies, and shameless references, Gintama' follows the Yorozuya team through further misadventures in the vibrant, alien-filled world of Edo.
