Summary
Hasegawa Hatsu is the daughter of Hasegawa Taizou, a well-connected Bakufu official. She married into her family from a poorer samurai lineage. Demonstrating her willingness to humble herself for her husband’s sake, she once knelt to beg for forgiveness on his behalf for dressing inappropriately for work, despite the fact that the superior to whom she apologized held a lower social rank than her own family.
