Nanase resides in a village renowned for having the most beautiful stars in Japan. After learning the legend of Orihime and Hikoboshi, she spends each day gazing at the night sky, lost in thought about the celestial lovers. When she moves to a new town, Nanase is astonished by the urban sky—it is devoid of stars, meaning Orihime and Hikoboshi cannot meet! Impulsively, she scribbles in her notebook, "How can I create the Milky Way?"
Three girls happen upon her doodling: Riko, the assertive group leader; Mio, who has a passion for science; and Airi, who is obsessed with all things trendy. Thus begins a daring venture to fabricate the Milky Way, undertaken by these four girls with starkly different interests and personalities.
