Kiki's Delivery Service Soars Back to UK IMAX in New 4K Remaster

Young witches and cinema fans in the UK and Ireland finally have a date on the calendar. Distributor GKIDS has opened ticket sales for its 4K reissue of Kiki's Delivery Service, Hayao Miyazaki’s 1989 Studio Ghibli classic, with IMAX presentations starting August 21 and a broader theatrical rollout from August 28.
Venue listings and booking links are live through GKIDS’ Studio Ghibli cinema hub for the region. The IMAX versions were prepared from fresh 4K restorations under the supervision of Studio Ghibli animator Atsushi Okui, aiming to put the hand-drawn flight sequences and seaside cityscapes on the largest screens possible.
The reissue is the opening act of a larger deal that will cycle Ghibli’s library through UK and Ireland cinemas. Audiences can expect both Japanese and English language options as Kiki and her black cat Jiji take to the skies again—this time on IMAX glass before settling into regular auditoriums a week later.
