Expelled from Paradise Sequel Casts Sumire Morohoshi as Agent Penem

Toei Animation’s upcoming theatrical sequel Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart has tapped Sumire Morohoshi as Penem, a third-class Security Bureau agent stationed on the orbital digital habitat DEVA. The reveal landed Wednesday alongside the film’s fifth key visual and fifth teaser PV, both of which put the new operative front and center.
In the fresh footage, Gabriel’s team races after the Fallen—deserters tied to the first film’s fallout—who now threaten DEVA from Nano Hazard-scarred Earth. Morohoshi’s Penem joins a stacked lineup already featuring Ayane Sakura as Gabriel, Saori Hayami as Alma, Yoshino Aoyama as Danel, and Sally Amaki as Raguel.
Creative continuity is the order of the day: Seiji Mizushima returns to direct, Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus) scripts, Masatsugu Saitō designs the cast, and NARASAKI scores, with Toei Animation producing. Japanese theaters open the film on November 13, 2026, while a separate original-story game for the franchise is also slated for this winter.
The 2014 original Expelled from Paradise followed agent Angela Balzac’s mission from the virtual city of DEVA to a ruined Earth—and this sequel digs deeper into the rebellion she left behind.
