Set in the closing years of the Meiji era, this tale follows the fortunes of a traditional kimono shop steeped in history. Mitsuboshi (Three Stars), a long-established kimono store that once saw great prosperity, now struggles. Its third son, Torasaburou Hoshino, returns from England after three years abroad. Eager to forge a new path and revitalize the "three-star" name, he finds himself coldly received by the shop's employees. Meanwhile, the enigmatic Takatou appears to be aware that Torasaburou is secretly working to restore Mitsuboshi's business.
