Lovely★Complex

Risa Koizumi, an unusually tall girl at 172 cm, finds out that her frequent rival Atsushi Ootani, who is quite short at 156 cm, has a crush on her friend. She decides to team up with him because she also likes his friend. However, their plans backfire when their crushes start dating each other. Determined to move on, the pair agree to support one another in finding new romance, all while continuing their usual pattern of constant bickering. Although they repeatedly deny it, Risa and Ootani have more in common than they think: both are self-conscious about their unusual heights, have poor grades, share the same food preferences, and act overly childish. Their antics make them the comedic highlight among their classmates, earning them the label of a comedy duo. Could the love they are seeking be closer than they imagine? Also features the one-shots: Volume 12: Hoshi ni Nattemo Aishiteru and Volume 16: Bokura no Ibasho.

Lovely★Complex won the 49th Shogakukan Manga Award for shoujo in 2004. The manga was published in English as Love★Com by VIZ Media under the Shojo Beat imprint from July 3, 2007 to March 2, 2010 and was adapted to two drama CDs, a live-action movie and PlayStation 2 game in 2006, and a TV anime series in 2007.
