Onmyou Taisenki

陰陽大戦記

In the Onmyou Taisenki manga, the story takes a different path from the anime, unfolding several years prior to the events shown there. The main character, Yakumo—who also appears in the anime—is the son of Monju, the chief priest of the Taihaku Shrine. Inside that shrine resides Mahoroba, Monju’s former teacher, who is kept imprisoned. Trouble begins when Mahoroba breaks free, grows more powerful, and turns Monju into stone. The manga follows Yakumo’s early experiences with a Shikigami, his training under Izuna, the shrine’s miko, and his mission to confront Mahoroba by traveling through different eras of Japanese history. Along the way, prominent historical Japanese figures such as Oda Nobunaga make appearances.
