Hotaru no Yomeiri

Satoko, the eldest daughter of the honorable Kirigaya family, has turned down countless marriage proposals from suitors drawn to her beauty and poise. She hides a secret heart condition that keeps her from accepting any of them. Still, she is willing to find a husband to put her beloved father's worries to rest. During a walk, Satoko is abducted by a band of mercenaries. Among them is Shinpei Gotou, a legendary assassin tasked with killing her. She attempts to bribe him into releasing her, but the effort fails. Left with no other options, Satoko makes a desperate move: pretending it is love at first sight, she asks him to marry her. To her surprise, Gotou takes the bait and vows to keep her safe. As the pair flee to freedom, Satoko finds it difficult to maintain the charade and to understand the mysterious man she has eloped with.
