Horikoshi Returns to Jump With Boy-Meets-Girl Horror One-Shot

Shueisha has confirmed that Kohei Horikoshi is back in Weekly Shonen Jump with a brand-new one-shot. Don’t Laugh, Shijima-san (Warawanaideyo Shijima-san) lands in the combined No. 37/38 issue on sale August 10—his first original Jump manga since My Hero Academia wrapped in August 2024 after a decade on the magazine’s pages.

Rather than another cape-and-quirk blockbuster, the publisher is framing the piece as a boy-meets-girl horror story. Reports put the one-shot at roughly 61 pages and fully in color, and Shueisha has already shared a promo still of the pair on a scooter—enough to signal a sharp left turn from UA High into something quieter and more unsettling.

The same double issue doubles as a celebration for another Jump giant: a six-page special marking 50 years of Osamu Akimoto’s Kochikame (Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo), supervised by horror novelist Seisuji, plus a bonus Akimoto illustration card for buyers. For Horikoshi fans who have been waiting for any new line work since the My Hero Academia finale, August 10 is the date circled on the calendar.
