In this retelling of the Robin Hood legend, all the main characters have been reimagined as teenagers.
Centuries ago in Nottingham County, the cruel and greedy Baron Alwine ordered the destruction of the Huntingtons' castle. Robin and his cousins—Will, Winifred, and Barbara—escaped the flames by pure miracle. Seeking refuge in Sherwood Forest, they learned to cope with the hardships of wilderness life under the wise guidance of a hermit known as Friar Tuck. Yet the forest was already home to a fearless band of young outlaws led by Little John. Their first meeting with Robin and his cousins proved rather turbulent, as the two groups clashed over the fate of a young noble maiden named Marian, who had fallen into the bandits' hands during an ambush.
Their initial hostility, however, quickly gave way to friendship. Robin and John soon realized they were all victims of the same fate, and the youths decided to aid one another. Baron Alwine was not merely the Huntingtons' enemy—a couple of years earlier, he had forced Little John and his gang to take shelter in the forest to escape forced labor. He also had designs on Marian Lancaster, seeking the secret carved into the cross the girl wore as a symbol of her family line.
Marian was to be adopted by the shady Bishop Herfort, Alwine's accomplice, who aimed to seize the Lancasters' wealth. With all their strength, Robin and his friends were compelled to fight against the baron's troops, commanded by Gilbert, a dangerous and fearless knight. When Winifred and Marian were imprisoned in the castle dungeons, the heroes tried every possible means to get inside, and their fervor was finally rewarded with success. Thanks to his noble heart and willingness to face danger, Robin quickly became known as the protector of the poor and oppressed. He was beloved and highly regarded not only by the villagers, but above all by the sweet and beautiful Marian. The boy, never parted from his loyal, magical bow, endlessly embarked on perilous and unthinkable missions.
