Kiriko Takemura, born on January 29, 1993, is a Japanese model, blogger, and recording artist who performs under the stage name Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Often referred to simply as Kyary, she is closely linked to the Harajuku district of Tokyo, where she became a prominent figure in Japan's kawaii and decora subcultures. When she first launched her blog, she felt that "Kyari," a phonetic rendering of the Western name "Carrie," was too brief and lacked a certain quality. To address this, she appended "Pamyu Pamyu" for its cute sound. Her official full stage name is Caroline Charonplop Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
