Natsuki Takaya, whose real name is Nana Hatake, is a left-handed mangaka born in Shizuoka and currently residing in Tokyo. Her pen name is Natsuki Takaya. Inspired by her sister's drawing habits, she aspired to become a manga artist as early as first grade. Takaya made her professional debut with the work "Born Free," which appeared in the September 1, 1992 issue of the Hana to Yume Planet Zōkan magazine. Following this debut, her works have been regularly serialized in Hana to Yume magazine. She is best known for her hit series, Fruits Basket, which received the Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shōjo Manga in 2001.
