Kujimaru Otori, a 25-year-old manga artist who once enjoyed moderate success, now finds himself in dire straits. As he resolves to win her back, a peculiar foreign woman in odd attire suddenly materializes in his room, claiming to be the long-dead Queen of France, Marie Antoinette. Though initially doubtful, the "Queen of the Guillotine" soon proves her identity beyond question. Thus, Kujimaru is dragged into a supernatural tournament that occurs only once a century. In this competition, the "heroic" souls of history's most dangerous women form contracts with the living, battling each other for the chance to have any wish their mortal hearts desire.
