After the death of his wife, high school teacher Kouhei Inuzuka tries his hand at cooking for his young daughter Tsumugi, despite having no real skill in the kitchen. Their meals end up coming from convenience stores after a few failed attempts. During a cherry blossom outing, Kouhei and Tsumugi encounter Kotori Iida, one of Kouhei’s socially withdrawn students. Noticing Tsumugi eyeing her lunch, Kotori invites them to her mother’s restaurant. Determined to give Tsumugi a proper meal, Kouhei arrives at the restaurant late, only to find Kotori waiting to assist him in the kitchen. Though both are inexperienced, they manage to make a simple dish. It becomes clear that Kotori often eats alone because her mother is busy. To ensure Tsumugi eats well, Kouhei agrees to cook regularly with Kotori, leading to a series of heartfelt shared meals.
