At eighteen, Tsukasa Mizugaki fails his college entrance exams but secures a position at Sion Artificial Intelligence Corporation through his connections. SAI Corp develops "Giftias," highly advanced androids that closely resemble humans. These Giftias have a limited lifespan of 81,920 hours—about nine years and four months—after which they risk memory loss and becoming dangerous. Tsukasa is assigned to Terminal Service One, responsible for retrieving Giftias nearing the end of their operational life. After joining Terminal Service One, Tsukasa is paired with Isla, a small yet experienced Giftia known for her exceptional retrieval skills. As Isla's remaining hours dwindle, Tsukasa struggles with his growing feelings for her. Despite his wishes, Tsukasa understands that nothing can escape the passage of time.
