Inuyashiki

いぬやしき

Ichirou Inuyashiki is an elderly man worn down by illness and isolation. Diagnosed with cancer and living a lonely life with few meaningful connections, he finds comfort in adopting a dog and tries to make the most of his remaining time. One evening while walking his pet, the weight of his despair becomes too much, and he breaks down crying alone in a park. His sorrow is cut short when he stumbles upon an alien device that transforms him into a powerful, mechanical being. Disturbed by his new form and his inability to shed tears, Inuyashiki fears he may be losing his humanity. Those worries ease when, while helping a desperate stranger, he finds himself moved to tears again, reaffirming his emotional core. Inspired by this moment, Inuyashiki devotes himself to rescuing others in need. But his newfound mission is soon challenged when he encounters a violent force intent on spreading chaos across the world. Inuyashiki's role shifts from a local helper to a protector standing against a growing menace.

Inuyashiki was published in English by Kodansha Comics USA from August 25, 2015, to December 19, 2017. It was also released in Italian by Panini Comics from October 24, 2015, to March 29, 2018; in Argentina by Editorial Ivrea from September 23, 2016, to March 21, 2019; and in Spanish by Milky Way Ediciones from June 28, 2016, to December 28, 2017. The series was adapted into a Japanese live-action film that was released on April 20, 2018.
