Takopii no Genzai

A Happian, a squid-like alien, sets out from their homeworld with the goal of spreading joy throughout the universe. After arriving on Earth, they barely avoid being caught by the locals until Shizuka Kuze, a serious young girl, finds them, gives them food, and names them Takopii. Feeling grateful for this kindness, Takopii dedicates themselves to making Shizuka smile. But this goal is not easy to achieve. Shizuka is being bullied at school, has no father, and has a mother who is often not around, though the naive Takopii does not fully grasp how deep her troubles go. Despite these hardships, Shizuka finds comfort in her dog, Chappy. The strong bond between Shizuka and Chappy only strengthens Takopii’s determination to bring happiness into her life. Even though Takopii’s efforts to cheer up Shizuka often lead to unexpected problems, they stay committed to their mission, using their experiences to learn more about human emotions and to spread joy wherever they go.
