In a distant future, humanity abandons the ruined Earth and migrates to the upper realm known as Tenjou. After a war destroys both Tenjou and the law of causality, people are forced back to Earth, which is now only habitable in the Far East region called Shinshuu. Since Shinshuu cannot support everyone, a duplicate world named Juusou Sekai is created. To restore Tenjou and the law of causality, survivors begin reconstructing history from 10,000 BC. When they reach AD 1413, conflict erupts in Shinshuu, causing Juusou Sekai to merge with the original Earth. The inhabitants of Juusou Sekai invade the original world, and after Shinshuu's people surrender, the land is divided among the invaders. Efforts to continue historical reconstruction from AD 1457 stall at AD 1648, and rumors of impending doom spread worldwide. Amid this chaos, a floating city named Musashi, composed of eight ships, drifts above the skies, where its student occupants engage in battles that decide the world's fate.
